Guided meditation · by Ange Monitto
Bring your body out of survival and into rest, using the one nerve that can actually switch it.

About this meditation
Your vagus nerve runs from your brain stem down through your throat, your heart, your lungs and your gut. It is the main line between your head and your body, and it is the switch between the state where you brace and the state where you digest, repair and sleep.
When you have been under pressure for long enough, that switch gets stuck. Not broken, stuck. Your body keeps running the alert program because at some point it needed to, and nothing has told it the emergency is over.
This recording tells it. Slow breath with a longer exhale, humming through the throat, and sound laid underneath: the three things I use in the room to bring someone down quickly. You lie down, you do nothing, and you let the sound do the work.
The short version is fifteen minutes. Most people feel it in the first five.
The sound
Every meditation has two layers: first my bowls in a chakra's note, then a solfeggio frequency played on crystal bowls. Here is what this one uses, and why.
The vagus nerve runs down past the heart and lungs. Slowing the heart with a long out-breath is the main thing this meditation does.
It is traditionally tied to connection and relationships, which fits the theme of the meditation: safety and connection are the language this nerve understands.
Tibetan and felt bowl on F (171.5 Hz), with sung crystal bowls on A (432.8 Hz) and C (256.6 Hz). F, A and C together make an F major chord.
A crystal bowl on 639 Hz, played an octave lower at 319.1 Hz (the same note, lower and warmer), with a second crystal a fifth away at 239.4 Hz.
Back to F, with the struck F crystal (342.8 Hz).
Timings are for the version with the sound bath.
What you get
The long one ends with a full sound bath. The short one is for the days you have not got half an hour.
