Guided meditation · by Ange Monitto
Breath, touch and sound to switch off the stress alarm when the day has been a lot.
Good for
About this meditation
When you are stressed, your body releases adrenaline and cortisol to help you deal with danger. Your heart speeds up, your breath goes shallow, your digestion goes quiet. That alarm is meant to switch off once the danger has passed. When the stress never stops, neither does the alarm.
This one switches it off with your breath, your hands, your imagination and sound. A 4-7-8 breath. A quiet so and hum. One hand on your forehead and one on the back of your head, so the thinking part of your brain can come back online. Slow circles on the inside of each wrist.
Then the cinema. You play something that has been stressing you on a screen, forwards and backwards, and then let your favourite comedians recast it. It sounds silly, and that is the point. Most people find the charge in it has eased by the end.
The bowls move to 285 Hz while you rest. And when it is over you keep every one of these tools, for the next time stress builds.
The sound
Every meditation has two layers: first my bowls in a chakra's note, then a solfeggio frequency played on crystal bowls. Here is what this one uses, and why.
It sits between the head and the body, where stress lands as a tight jaw, neck and shoulders.
It is traditionally linked with the body's tissues and the tension they hold, which is what this meditation lets go of.
Tibetan and felt bowl on G (192.4 Hz), with sung crystal bowls on G (384.7 Hz) and D (287.7 Hz). G and D together are a fifth.
A crystal bowl right on 284.4 Hz, with a second crystal a fifth away at 428.3 Hz.
Back to G, with the struck G crystal (384.7 Hz).
Timings are for the version with the sound bath.
What you get
The long one ends with a full sound bath. The short one is for the days you have not got half an hour.
